WATCH: Cricket-geddon In Idaho and Nevada

In addition to the attention-grabbing cicada invasion on the East Coast, there is another insect invasion occurring in parts of the West.

Swarms of crickets are overwhelming towns in Nevada and Idaho.

In some areas, the roads have been completely covered with crickets, leading to temporary closures as Department of Transportation crews work to clear them.

These crickets, specifically Mormon crickets, are attracted to areas affected by drought as they feed on dead crops and vegetation.

They travel in large groups, which is why they often cover roads.

Residents report that the crickets leave a slick, bloody mess when run over by cars and emit a foul odor.
