Victoria’s Secret is getting with the times by hiring its first plus-size model.
The lingerie company is now featuring Ali Tate-Cutler, a size 14 model, in ads as part of a collaboration with Bluebella, a U.K.-based lingerie brand. It’s a major move for Victoria’s Secret, which has been criticized in the past for not being size inclusive.
Bringing in models with more body types is long overdue and it’s just one way the company is trying to be more inclusive. In August, Victoria’s Secret hired its first openly transgender model,Valentina Sampaio.
Ali says she’s “pretty stoked” to be working with the brand she idolized as a teenager. She announced the news on Instagramand says it’s a “great step in the right direction for bodies.”
