Oakland Residents Use Water Bottles To Save Man Trapped In Burning Car

On Saturday, a man in a black sedan clipped another car at an intersection in North Oakland, crashed into a traffic signal pole, and his car immediately burst into flames.

More than two dozen bystanders rushed to help, some dragging hoses, others carrying home fire extinguishers and bottles of water, which they used to douse the flames.

Firefighters arrived moments later, freed the man from the vehicle, and told reporters on the scene that the residents were responsible for the man surviving the fire.
