Woman Found Alive In Snow-Covered SUV After Six Day Search

A weeklong search for a California woman with dementia who disappeared has come to a happy ending.

Paula Beth James,68, went missing six days earlier and was found alive in her show-covered SUV in the mountains north of Sacramento.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office reports that her vehicle was lodged in the snow and she was rescued after a helicopter spotted her inside.

Temperatures in the area reached the low 30s this week, and James was visibly cold when she was found, but authorities say she was conscious, talking, and is being treated at a local hospital.

"We are all grateful for this fortunate outcome and wish her a speedy recovery," the sheriff's office said.
