CHICAGO, IL -- The Chicago White Sox looked uninterested on Wednesday night despite being in a pennant race against their divisional rival Cleveland Guardians, and the Guards took full advantage of the lackadaisical attitude. Chicago third baseman Yoan Moncada's struggles in the hot corner continued into Wednesday's bout against the Guardians, allowing Cleveland to get on the board via a throwing error to first base. Andres Gimenez drove in two on a line drive single to center field in the first inning to tack on two more runs. The Guardians jumped out to a six-run lead and never looked back, cruising to an 8-2 victory over the White Sox.

Cleveland starter Triston McKenzie put together a terrific start against a strong White Sox lineup, tossing 8 full innings while giving up just two earned runs on 6 hits. James Karinchak was called upon to close the door on Chicago and he did just that, allowing one hit in a shutout inning.

With Wednesday's win the Cleveland Guardians take a commanding 6 game lead in the American League central, and will look to extend that number to 7 when they clash for the final regular season matchup against the Chicago White Sox. The first pitch is set for 8:10 pm ET at Guaranteed Rate Park in the Southside of Chicago, Illinois.
