On July 5th, Ozzy Osbourne performed his final concert in Birmingham, England, just weeks before his death at age 76. The “Back to the Beginning” event drew fans from around the world and raised $190-million for charity, making it the highest-grossing benefit concert in history! The concert was Osbourne’s last public wish and a fitting tribute to his legendary career.

Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello served as the musical director and later shared that the profits would go to Birmingham Children’s HospitalAcorns Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s. “It was over a year of hard work,” he says, adding that the project was a “labor of love.” With thousands of fans in attendance, the concert featured emotional performances, including Osbourne’s song “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

Billboard reports that the concert’s proceeds surpassed historic charity events like the Concert for Bangladesh and Live Aid. Osbourne, who had battled Parkinson’s disease for years, passed away earlier this week. His final act left a powerful legacy not only in music but also in generosity and compassion.
