Deputy Rescues Child From SUV Stuck On Tracks Just Before Train Smashes It

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Deputy Michael Castaneda was recently recognized for saving a child from an SUV trapped on train tracks in Redlands, California. The incident, captured in a video shared on social media, shows Castaneda sprinting toward the vehicle, which was stuck on the tracks as a train approached at high speed.

He worked quickly to get to the SUV and remove the child just seconds before the train collided with the vehicle. His actions prevented what could have been a tragic accident, as he managed to get both himself and the child to safety right before the train struck the SUV.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department awarded Castaneda the Meritorious Valor Award for his bravery and quick response. The department praised his courage on social media, describing his actions as a “true example of courage and dedication to our community.”
