World Central Kitchen Feeding Those In Need For Free In Asheville

When disaster strikes, World Central Kitchen shows up to help. After Hurricane Helene tore through the south, devastating areas including Western North Carolina, the global relief organization arrived in Asheville.

They’re one of several disaster relief organizations that are in the city to provide free food and supplies. World Central Kitchen is distributing free meals at Bear’s Smokehouse downtown and will be setting up additional locations in the area soon.

Celebrity chef José Andrés founded the group in 2010 to provide fresh food on the frontlines after humanitarian disasters, both here in the U.S. and worldwide. In the wake of Hurricane Helene, World Central Kitchen has teams in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee to serve meals to survivors, responders and workers, all at no charge.
