Last week in White Settlement, Texas, Myndi Jordan noticed an elderly woman inserting $100 bills into a Bitcoin ATM while on a suspicious video call and called 911.
Sergeant James Stewart of the White Settlement Police Department arrived, took over the call, and confronted the scammer, stopping the woman from depositing more money.
Stewart was able to recover the woman’s funds, emphasized the importance of community vigilance, and advised the public to directly contact their bank if they receive suspicious calls.
