A local man in Houma, Louisiana, heroically rescued an 80-year-old Vietnam veteran from a house fire. Last week, an electrical fire began in Kenneth Cobb’s kitchen and soon spread through his home. Fortunately, Jeremy Trahan happened to be driving by the home, saw the fire, and rushed to make sure everyone had made it out safely.
After knocking and not getting an answer, Trahan broke through the door and immediately spotted Cobb, unconscious in his wheelchair. The good Samaritan wasted no time, holding his breath as he made his way through the thick smoke, quickly pushing the elderly homeowner out of the house to safety. Meanwhile, Trahan’s coworker called 911 and firefighters arrived moments later to put out the fire.
Cobb, who’s currently battling lung cancer and other chronic illnesses, suffered smoke inhalation and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where Trahan was also briefly treated and released. The Navy veteran is grateful to Trahan for saving his life and says it’s a miracle that the six oxygen tanks in his living room didn’t explode from the intense heat of the fire. As if Trahan hadn’t already done enough, he later set up a crowdfund to help Cobb and also took part in a local fundraiser to raise awareness of fire safety.
