Woman Saves Toddler Found Walking Alone Near Houston Freeway

A toddler was rescued near a freeway in southeast Houston by Laurie Pena, a mother of six, and her husband. They noticed the child while driving and immediately turned around to help. Another couple was also nearby and joined in the rescue effort.

The couple called the authorities, and Houston police officers arrived to pick up the child, who told officers that he lived nearby but didn't know where exactly. The toddler mentioned being left with his six-year-old brother at home.

Pena expressed relief that they intervened before anything worse could happen, knowing the potential dangers the child faced. The child's father eventually showed up, and authorities confirmed the child was in good health and living in a clean, safe environment. Child Protective Services has been contacted to follow up on the incident.
