A family from the Midwest experienced a mix-up while preparing for their Walt Disney World vacation. They mistakenly bought $10,000 worth of Disney+ streaming service gift cards, thinking they were for use in the theme parks. The mix-up occurred when the family's elderly parents bought one hundred $100 gift cards from Sam's Club as a surprise for the family's long-awaited trip to Orlando.
Andie Coston, one of the relatives involved, shared their story on TikTok, which quickly went viral. The family, which had been planning the trip since it was postponed in 2020, was distressed when they first realized the mistake.
However, the story took a positive turn when Disney stepped in to rectify the situation. After the story gained widespread attention, Disney agreed to exchange the Disney+ gift cards for Disney park gift cards. Coston expressed relief and gratitude, noting that their vacation was back on track and they were excited to visit Disney’s Magic Kingdom on Christmas Eve.
