Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry has a future role in an Adam Sandler film if he can once again record 2,000 yards during the 2025 NFL season.

Henry, 31, revealed that Sandler was his favorite actor during an appearance on the Dan Patrick Show, which led to Patrick, a longtime friend of Sandler's who's made cameos in several of his films, telling Henry he would text Sandler and have him send the Ravens personal video, as well as laying down the initial challenge for Henry to once again pass the 2,000-yard plateau.

"Alright, cool, say no more," Henry said.

The Dan Patrick Show's account later shared a video of the host leaving a voicemail for Sandler about the conversation with Henry, which spliced into Sander's video message and Henry's reaction.

“Yo Derrick, I just woke up, you know that. That’s why I look disgusting — on top of the fact that I am disgusting,” Sander joked. “I love ya, congrats on everything, baby, 2,000 yards-plus gets you not only in the movie, but we have a nice dinner together and we talk about Dan Patrick’s facial hair and how hard it is to grow it.”

“That’s my dog, man,” Henry said after watching the video and handing the phone back to a Ravens employee. “Hell yeah, man, that’s cool as hell.”

Henry also shared a direct message to Patrick thanking him for the interaction with Sandler, which Patrick shared during the show's broadcast.

"Please Dan thank you sending the message for the video, that was really cool!" he wrote with the teary-eyed and exploding head emojis. "Much love!"

Henry, who led the NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns, fell 39 yards shy of recording 2,000 yards in a single-season for the second time in his career in 2024, having previously recorded a career-best 2,027 yards in 2020, the second consecutive season in which he led the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns, during his tenure with the Tennessee Titans. The former Heisman Trophy winner is among nine players who have ever recorded more than 2,000 yards in a single-season, including Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who was the only player with more rushing yards than Henry in 2024 with 2,005, just 100 shy of Pro Football Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson's single-season record.
