A 60-year-old lawyer from Argentina is vying to become the oldest Miss Universe contestant in history.

Alejandra Rodriguez was crowned Miss Universe Buenos Aires Wednesday (April 24) night, moving her one step closer to representing the South American country in the global beauty pageant, as she will represent her province in a nationwide competition scheduled to take place next month. The Miss Universe pageant had initially followed strict guidelines allowing only contestants between the ages of 18 to 28 who were single with no children. Last September, the pageant announced its decision to allow women between the ages of 18 and 73 to compete regardless of other factors, which will be implemented during this year's competition.

R'Bonney Gabriel, now 30, who represented the United States in the Miss Universe 2022 pageant, is currently the oldest contestant to have claimed the title at the age of 28. Rodriguez, who had previously worked as a journalist before studying law and later becoming a legal advisor for a hospital, said her diet and active lifestyle are responsible for her age-defying looks.

“The basic thing is to have a healthy life, eat well, do physical activity,” she told the Argentinian television network El Trece earlier this week.. “Normal care, nothing too extraordinary and a little genetics."

“What I try to do is intermittent fasting, I think that helps a lot. Then I try to eat organic foods, a lot of fruit, a lot of vegetables, and use good creams," she added, also noting that she works out three times a week, which mostly includes walking and some jogging.
