After spending years in the foster care system, a 17-year-old Tennessee girl was finally adopted this month. Matt and Karis Leckron first met Taylor during what was supposed to be a short weekend placement about two years ago. Friends and classmates showed up to cheer Taylor on during the adoption ceremony at a local county courthouse.
Karis says the road to adoption was filled with ups and downs, since they spent much of the process unsure if everything would be approved. She adds that faith and steady encouragement from loved ones kept them going through the long foster-to-adoption journey. By the time the papers were signed, though, Taylor had already felt like their daughter for quite a while.
The Leckrons are now settling in as a family of three and looking forward to the holidays, which are especially meaningful this year since it will be their first Christmas with Taylor officially part of the family. Karis says they’re excited to have a child in their home now.
