Hotel Rooms Are Dirtier Than They Look

Chances are you’ve stayed in a hotel room at some point in your life. If you’re going to again, just resign yourself to how dirty they are and prepare for that. The most common illnesses picked up there are stomach bugs and respiratory sickness.

Here are the hotel germ hot spots (don’t forget to wash your hands and use sanitizer):

  • The elevator. Those buttons are gross. Do not touch your face or eyes until you’ve washed your hands or sanitized
  • Beware the bedspread or comforter. They aren’t washed very often
  • Then there’s the remote. FULL of germs
  • The light switches, coffee pot, and anything sitting on tables or nightstands will have germs
  • Watch out for bed bugs

Experts recommend washing your hands after touching any surface at all in a hotel room. And don’t eat or drink until you do.
