SNL Inducts Nickelback Into "Ironically Cool Club"

Pop culture is weird. There's always bands and artists that get the "Nickelback" treatment where they are the butt of jokes for years and years. Journey is the perfect example. Journey was cheesy ballad rock that no cool person admitted to liking. In the late 90's into the early 00's Journey was a punchline band. The only reason I knew anything about Journey was because of BASEketball. Journey was (and still is to many people) a joke of a band. Then a new generation discovered Journey through GLEE and all of sudden "Don't Stop Believing" is everyone's favorite guilty pleasure. I think this sketch just did that for an entire generation of future Nickelback fans. Nickelback has survived the storm and now it will be cool to like the band that Millenials all claim to hate. Congratulations Nickelback, you're ironically cool.

Check out this sketch and some of the other sketches from a really solid episode of SNL.

Dawn Lazarus is one of my favorite characters in a very long time.
