In a horrific case of child abandonment, police officers in Georgia not only found an abandoned newborn in a plastic bag – it was all on camera.
The videoshows the infant, who is crying, with her umbilical cord still attached – and the stunned onlookers trying to comfort her.
The discovery happened three weeks ago – and the mother still hasn’t been located – which is why police are releasing the video. If there’s good news? It’s that the little one is fine. Temporarily named India, she remains in protective custody.
One note? All 50 states have Safe Haven laws on the books. While the details vary as to how long someone has to relinquish their child, the simple fact is that there are plenty of options besides abandoning a child.
