Teen Walks For First Time In Nine Years At Prom

A 17-year-old girl who lost her ability to walk when she was eight has taken her first steps since then and she got to do it at the prom.

Tamesha Simmons had both of her legs amputated in February and debuted her new prosthetic legs for the first time at a special prom held at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The teen ditched her wheelchair to take a spin on her own two feet and it was her first chance to do that in nearly nine years.

Tamesha admits she was nervous before showing off her new legs, but once she calmed down, she had fun.

And seeing other young hospital patients busting moves inspired her, especially the girl dancing all around with her prosthetic leg. She says, “I’m going to be able to do that one day.”
