#GoodNews: Gramps With Vitiligo Creates Dolls For Kids With This Condition

A grandfather in Brazil who has vitiligo, a skin condition that causes patches of the skin to lose their pigment and turn white, is now crocheting dolls with the same condition.

João Stanganelli Jr. took up the hobby when he semi-retired recently and his first project was creating a doll for his granddaughter and he made it with vitiligo patches and his passion project took off from there.

Now João makes more inclusive dolls, including blind ones and one in a wheelchair. All of his creations are designed to help kids feel “normal,” no matter what kind of condition they have.

The grandpa shares his dolls on FacebookandInstagramand says he has so many orders, he spends 90% of his time crocheting the one-of-a-kind dolls. That means his hobby is bringing smiles to a lot of kids.
