NEW YORK CITY, NY--- Emmanuel Clase has recorded his 5th blown save of the year after giving up the winning run to former Cleveland Indian Francisco Lindor in the 10th inning, with the Mets defeating the Guardians 10-9 Friday night. Another former Cleveland Indian would be in the Mets dugout, starting pitching Carlos Carrasco, making his first start against his former franchise, he would go 5 innings giving up 5 hits and 5 runs, with the first 3 coming from a red hot Josh Naylor crushing a 3 run homer early on in the first inning. We would also see Jose Ramirez return to the line up after being home due to his grandmother's funeral, he would draw 2 walks, and score twice.

Just an inning later, we would see catcher Cam Gallagher record an RBI single for the second consecutive game, bringing home Myles Straw. Gallagher had a 2 for 4 night with that RBI, a bright spot in a what has been an abysmal May for Guardians catchers at the plate. The Guardians would press on in the 5th, with Amed Rosario also getting an RBI single, this time with 2 outs, pushing the lead to 5-0. The Mets would then wake up their bats in the 5th and 6th innings for 3 runs off homers from Francisco Alvarez and Brett Baty, along with a single from Jeff McNeil. Josh Naylor would then drive in 2 more runs with a 2 out single, Naylor had a phenomenal day at the plate, going 3 for 5 driving in 5 runs. Then came the bottom of the 7th...

Sam Hentges would load the bases walking Brandon Nimmo and Jeff McNeil, while also giving up a hit to Lindor, Pete Alonso, who came into the game leading the MLB with 19 home runs, hit a Grand Slam to tie the game at 7. James Karinchak was the pitcher in that situation, giving up his 6th home run of the year. Both offenses would then stay hot in the 10th inning, with Gabriel Arias hitting a 2 run homer making the score 9-7. Then came the chaos of the bottom of the 10th inning, Mark Vientos would bring the Mets within 1 with a single, then in an attempt to throw out Vientos stealing 2nd, Cam Gallagher overthrew the ball to center field, runner on 2nd. Francisco Alvarez came to the plate, hitting a single, Kwan overthrew Gallagher at home, tie game. That set up Francisco Lindor to hit a walk off single to win the game.

The Guardians are scheduled to play the Mets tomorrow, but expect a day-night double header Sunday, with a heavy rain heading towards the big apple for Saturday. Keep up with the latest on WTAM 1100 AM, 106.9 FM, the free iHeartRadio app, and HERE
