WWE Legend Big Show Signs With All Elite Wrestling

One of the most recognizable names in professional wrestling is jumping ship from WWE to All Elite Wrestling after a 22-year run with his former employer.

Paul Wight, best known as "The Big Show" in WWE and "The Giant" in the now-defunct WCW, has signed a long-term deal with AEW, according to a news release shared on the company's official website.

AEW confirmed Wight will have "an extensive role" in the company, both making his return to the ring and serving as a commentator on its newest show, 'AEW Dark: Elevation.'

“It’s been amazing to watch what AEW has built in just a couple of years,” Wight said in the news release. “AEW Dark is an incredible platform to hone the skills of up-and-coming wrestlers, but I also love that established AEW talent can build out their personalities and showcase themselves in new ways on Dark. It’s no exaggeration when they say that AEW is boundless.”

Known best for his imposing size and stature, Wight is considered one of the most decorated "big men" in the history of pro wrestling, having held seven world championships during his 27 years competing for both WCW (1995-99) and WWE (1999-2021.)

The former Wichita State basketball player made his professional wrestling debut in 1994 and debuted at WCW's 'Slamboree' event in 1995 as "The Giant," billed as the son of the Andre the Giant seeking revenge against the late wrestler's former rival, Hulk Hogan.

Wight signed with WWE in 1999 and debuted as "The Big Show" at the 'St. Valentine's Day Massacre: In Your House' pay-per-view, which saw him throw 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin into the side of a cage as an enforcer to WWE CEO Vince McMahon.
