It's official: Judas Priest to launch 50 Heavy Metal Years tour 2020

Heavy Metal icons Judas Priest will be celebrating their 50th anniversary this year with a world tour coming to the U.S. in the fall. The "50 Heavy Metal Years Tour" comes hot on the heels of the highest charting album of Priest's career, "Firepower", which peaked at #5 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

From the band’s official statement: "Judas Priest are primed and ready to deliver the goods with our '50 Heavy Metal Years' anniversary celebration stage show spectacular. Performing a blistering cross section of songs from our lives in metal — we can't wait to raise horns with you again at this once in a metal lifetime event."

Judas Priest formed in 1969 and the band had struggled finding major commercial success until 1980, with the success of their breakthrough album British Steel. Since then, the band has sold over 50 million albums and they are frequently ranked as one of the greatest metal bands of all time.

The 50 Heavy Metal Years tour kicks off in Maryland on September 9th, and will hit the Covelli Center in Youngstown on September 24.

Sabaton will join Priest as support.
