Bruce Springsteen Gets Two Emmy Nominations For 'Springsteen On Broadway'

Netflix FYSEE Opening Night Celebrating "Springsteen On Broadway"

Bruce Springsteen, who turned his Grammy award-winning music career into a Tony award-winning Broadway show and then an acclaimed Netflix special, has now been nominated for two Emmy awards.

The Boss's autobiographical Springsteen on Broadway Netflix special was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-recorded) and Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special.

If the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer wins an Emmy, he'll join a rarefied group of 15 other "EGOT" artists, including Barba Streisand, Quincy Jones and Liza Minnelli, who have won an Emmy, a Grammy an Oscar and a Tony award.

The Emmy Awards ceremony will take place Sept. 15 in Los Angeles.

Springsteen performed 236 shows at the Walter Kerr Theater before wrapping up the wildly-successful residency late last year.

Broadway insiders later said the singer-songwriter's success opened the door for other pop stars to come to the theater. Just last week Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry confirmed that the band would consider a Broadway project once its 50th anniversary residency in Las Vegas is finished.

Springsteen has yet to announce a new tour, but he released a new solo album, Western Stars, in June. He also confirmed he's working on a new E Street Band album, which will likely get the band back in the studio this fall and on the road in 2020.
