(DETROIT) – As expected, Michael Bourn was activated off of the 15-day DL on Tuesday prior to the Indians scheduled series-opener against the Tigers; the surprising part was who got sent to Triple-A Columbus in order to make room for the center fielder…Nyjer Morgan.

Morgan, who hit .348 and had an OBP of .484, while stealing three bases and driving in four runs in just nine games, was sent down to Triple-A as the Indians corresponding roster move to clear room for Bourn.

Bourn is expected to make his 2014 season debut on Wednesday evening when the Tribe opens up their series with the Tigers at 7:08 pm ET. On Tuesday the series-opening game was postponed due to inclement weather in the Detroit area which did not feature much precipitation, but temperatures in the low 20s.

Bourn has been sidelined since the end of spring training with a strained left hamstring.

The Indians and Tigers scheduled three-game series will now only be two games on Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon. A makeup date for Tuesday’s postponement was not immediately announced.
